Conservation Area
Formed in 1941 with 40 acres. In 1945, the Montpelier Lions Club built the original cabin, later it was turned over to the League. The League added on a kitchen, furnace room and the addition to the north. In 1960 another 34 acres were purchased. This is a great recreation area for the Sportsman Club. Fishing, shotgun, rifle and archery shooting ranges are available.
George Bible Park
Country park that opened in June 1970. The park has a shelter house, natural foot bridge spanning the channel between the two lakes and two foot bridges for passage over the southeast of the lake. It has a marked path for hiking on the old roadbed. The park encompasses 60 acres. It is a very nice recreational area of hiking, fishing, nature study and picnicking. It is also a beautiful setting for weddings.
Historical Tree Grove
Montpelier is the home to a grove of historic trees. The tree grove was dedicated in a sesquicentennial activity in 1995. Trees like the Jessie Owens Honey Locust, Clara Barton Redbud and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Cottonwood are planted here.
Montpelier Municipal Park
22 acre park with facilities including a pool, volleyball & tennis courts, ball diamonds, playground equipment, handicapped accessible restrooms, a concession stand and shelter house. Some of the summer activities enjoyed at the park are soccer, swimming lessons, baseball, softball, T-ball, Safety town and children's gardening, crafts & sports.
Wabash Cannonball Trail
Consists of a 65 mile trail on the abandoned rail bed of the Wabash railroad. The trail runs from Montpelier to Maumee where it links into the Oak Openings Preserve and Metro park and the Maumee State Forest.
Williams County Historical Complex
The museum houses changing exhibits and permanent displays ranging from early Williams County history to the 1980s. The farm museum presents the farming heritage of Williams County. Railroad enthusiasts will discover fascinating artifacts on railroad history in the 1928 Hocking Valley caboose or in the replica depot. The 1860 Lett Log House contains period furnishings, which fourteen family members used in their daily lives. Admission is free. The museum is opened May through October, Sunday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Closed holidays. For all ages! The WCHS calendar of events has something for everyone! The Historical Society was founded in 1956 with the motto "History Like Charity, Begins at Home." In 1968 the museum was constructed with the generosity of the County Commissioners, and friends of the society. By 1975, the first building addition was paid for by the George Haverstock estate. Charter member, Keith Porter, donated funds for another wing, completed in 1981.
